: My dealer used mineral instead of synthetic oil, (they have always used synthetic in the past). I have heard that once synthetic oil was used mineral oil should never be used again. Can someone please explain why this is and is it possible that their mistake could damage my motor?

No damage should occur. One can switch between mineral and synthetic oil without problems. You should tell your dealer specifically which type of oil you want when you have the car serviced. I also tell mine that no "test drives" are allowed. Just change the oil back to syn if you are really worried..a full oil pan is better than one that is low on oil with dirty oil of any kind....enjoy.....cheers....kbk
