This is incorrect! This information came verbally from someone in the parts department. He was mistaken about what the new synthetic oil would be. He said the synthetic would be changed from 5W40 to 15W40. This is wrong.

The synthetic 5W40 will be changed to 5W30 per BMW Parts Bulletin #110100. The mineral oil is 15W40.

Search the archives for a complete write-up I posted of the bulletin (word-for-word).

Sorry for the incorrect information I originally posted. Again, the new BMW "labeled" synthetic oil will be 5W30. It will be made by CASTROL for BMW.
