It's better to have the tweeter down in the kickpanel if you want good imaging and soundstage. The concept as to why is quite simple...When the tweeters are in the kickpanel the drivers side tweeter is about 5" closer to your ears then the passenger side, when the tweeters are in the doors the drivers side tweeter is about 20" closer to your ears then the passenger side. All of this doesn't even take into account the benefits of keeping the mids and highs closer to each other for time alignment purposes.
