Do you have a clutch stop? I tried it in my car today...and yours is not the same as mine. I did get a very high pitched whine...but it doesn't sound like it is that important. I expect it to make a little noise.

Sounds like it may be a differential problem. But I am confused as to why it would only show up in first gear...maybe someone else can help me.

I was thinking that if you had a clutch stop it might be set too high...

: i narrowed my whirring sound to 1st gear. it is almost non-existent in any other gear, including reverse. when the engine is slowing down, even with the clutch in, and the shifter is in 1st, there is a loud whirring sound. and i do mean it is very audible. it also happens when the car is in motion without any gas. normally, engine sounds cover it up, but when you let up on the gas and let it coast a little, you notice it again. only in 1st. with or without the clutch in. does anyone know what may be wrong with my baby? i am concerned. thanks.
