1. Most cars are 1:1 in 4th gear. This means that you'll see the most power in 4th. The M3's 5th gear is 1:1 so in our case you'll see the most power in 5th - but most dyno operators don't know this so you'll have to ask them to run in 5th.

2. Many dyno shops don't want you spinning at 160MPH. It's not very good for the dyno. It's also not very good for your tires. Mine were very visably "smoothed" after 5th gear runs.

3. If your car has a top speed limiter a 5th gear run won't get you very far..
