…about using MB-Quart's mid and tweeter in the factory locations, and how they sound "piercing" or "shrill". I know that the mid and tweeter should be nearer the 5-1/4 or whatever you decide to put down there, but that is not going to happen in my ride. With all due respect to those of you who have these things, after seeing one up close, I would never put one of those cheap-ass Q forms in my car. I would rather spend the money on peformance parts than on Q forms or some other custom speaker enclosure. I am looking for good speakers that sound good in the factory locations. So if MB’s sound like shit in the factory locations what will sound good there?

-Lou

: I would also opt to do a 2-way set up in the kicks over using the factory locations for a 3-way set up. You can either use Q Forms or just use the factory 5.25" location and be a little creative on how to mount the tweeter (see Lincoln's website for one idea). I've got my Quart Q Series mounted in the kicks and they sound incredible. The soundstage is very wide and the imaging is pretty good. Even with the tweeters in the kicks I still have to attenuate them by -6dB on the MUSiCOMP crossover.

: While Q Forms are built like shit and overpriced, they do offer a much cheaper alternative to custom kick panels which would be at least twice as much. Just keep in mind that Q Forms are built with regards to accomodating certain speaker sizes with general consideration givin to speaker placement. They may not offer the best imaging, but it'll sure beat the factory 3-way set up.

: Whatever you do, don't put an MB Quart tweeter in the door location. Even at their lowest x-over setting they'll still be very piercing at higher volumes.

: : For a 3 way setup with a 6.5 a 4 and a tweet, where would the best positioning be? Would the stock locations work ok? (I'm not an audiophile, so this doesn't matter... just lookin for better sound/volume. Also, have you seen those Q forms things? Would those be a good idea?

: : Thanx in advance,
