You have to decide which approach you would like to take. Show, straight line, or handling. If you are a road racer, and have MXX3's or the s-02's, I would suggest a upgradeing your suspension with bilstien sports and H&R's, along with the lower X-brace with the mounting tabs. You will generally upset the outstanding 'out of the box' balance of the M by piecing a suspension package, but who can afford the 'Gruppe N' upgrade all at once? A general start for engine performance would include freeing up the restictive intake and a reflash of OBDII or a chip for the 95's.
Heal-Toeing generally is a feel technique, but you might want to glance at the tach when starting out before downshifting. It becomes second nature as you account for your engine velocity, deceleration, and the gear which you are in.
