Lots of M3 owners will drive their cars hard. That's what it was made to do, but there is a point and many owners here know not to push it all the time. Like anything else, if you push something to the limit all the time, it's bound to break some of the time. All cars can be reliable if they're taken care of. Then again, a M3 with 30,000 miles can be worse off than one with 60,000 if the owner did not take care of the car. A careful inspection (either at a dealership or with a knowledgeable M nut) can tell if the car has been abused. To sum it all up, to pay $40k for a car and then ragging it out is insane and I think you would find very few like that.
