I think that there are two possibilities here: something mechanical is bent in your pedal linkage, or there is a hydraulic problem. Since you mentioned that the travel is greatly elongated, I would lean toward a hydraulic problem as the culprit. When was the last time you changed the clutch/brake fluid? According to Bentley at least, the problems you describe are usually attributed to old corrupted fluid and possibly damaged hydraulic parts. Try flushing the fluid (or have the $tealer do it) and see what happens, it certainly couldn't hurt.
To the best of my knowledge, the throw is not adustable, so this is all I can think of. Hope this helps.
