I didn't worry to much about adapatation simply because I have no way of clearing it when I wanted to dyno my car or went drag racing. I just let things how they are.

I pulled a 207rwhp on my 98 M3 with just a K&N Drop in filter and I maxed it out with 216rwhp when I removed the catback exhaust. Wether these are true accuate results or not, I didn't care simply because my dyno runs were free. I just had to tie them down and did the computer work.

My best time on a drag strip was 14.161 @97.69mph.

One note however, I cleared adaptations on my MS41.2 DME with the Modic and afterwards the car actually felt like I lost some power.
