there is a monthly magazine called "circuit cellar" and for the past two issues, they have a series of articles on how to make a do-it-youself connector to tap into and read the output from the obdii port on a laptop. from the article, it doesn't seem as of the obdii is doing anything revolutionary that hasn't been done before because the data you can get from the connector is pretty basic. but i suppose if you really wanted to answer your question, you could make the connector and see what you find.

: I've heard that OBDII computers are actively readjusting to render most performance upgrades useless on the 3.2L motors, but my source of info will not be disclosed. BTW did you notice that Active Autowerke's no longer sells the OBDII software upgrade? Coincidence? Things that make you go hmmm.... By the way it is a software upgrade, "chips" are replaced in OBDI engines only. YMMV.
