final ratio of 1:1, but that the other 5 gears were "close ratio", thus keeping you in the power band better. in order to go 185 in an m3, you either need a taller (smaller number) differential or much taller wheels. (my 255x16 drag radials are 25", 2"taller than stock and top speed is only 173) so i think taller wheels wont do it since mine fill up the wheel wells and i cant imagine a way to get any taller wheels in there. so gearing must be the key. my 95 came with a 3.15, i think it is. there is a gearing calculator online that will tell you which gearing you need at a certain rpm and tire dia to come up with the top speed. im guessing that the gearing would be like a 2.70 for stock tires.... but would have to check the calculator to be for sure.
sure my car would do 185 with taller gears, but 1/4 mile would suffer.
12.013 1/4mi on street tires

:: I thought our gearing only allowed a top speed of 160 at redline in 5th gear.

: Getrag 6sp from European BMW M3 + the 460bhp = about 185mph
