I don't think you're supposed to regularly have recirculator engaged. See owner's manual. My 1995 one says definitely not; only for temporary use when there's a foul odor or what not. Probably not related to lack of cooling - you need to get the a/c pressures checked; probably you just need a charge (only $60 or so).

: i have a 98 M3/4 and i noticed lately that my AC is not getting as cold as i remember. i have the AC set to 60, which is the lowest, and i have it on recirculate, but it still satys fairly warm in the car, could i have a problem????
