: I got the unit Monday AM. Stopped by an automotive store and got a MANUAL 10 amp charger (About $65).
: Followed instructions to turn off anything/everything in the car possible. Hooked the charger to the battery in the trunk. Carefully closed the trunk lid so as to turn off the courtesy light.
: Plugged in the injector, then turned the ignition on. (Didn't start the car)
: Green light on the SI. Pushed the UPGRADE button and waited about 5 min. for the process to finish.
: When finished. Turned off the ignition. Removed injector. Removed Battery charger.
: Waited a few minutes. Then hopped into the car for some residential terrorism.
: Gears 1, 2, 3 and 4 pulled really crazy!! (ASC on by the way)
: NOW UPDATE TO THIS AM, on the way to work-
: Some decent expressway straightaways (ASC off)
: 1st gear- ZOOM!
: 2nd gear-Yikes!
: 3rd Gear-lotsa pull to 80mph
: 4th still has guts
: 5th Ok, not bad
: Overall pretty darn good bang for the buck. My M3 is a 96-Luxo Pkg.
: My mod list is pretty short (so the effects I felt from just the SI upgrade should be pretty universal for the rest of you guys who haven't dived too deep into your wallets yet.)
: RS Short Shifter
: German Strut Tower Brace (CNC Machined alum.)
: Dinan CAI
: and the Shark Injector
: My conservative guesstimate on these mods is maybe max 268 horsepower vs the 240 stock. (adjusted crank hp based on JC's input of a dyno 16-22 horsepower gain with CAI/Software).
: I think spending $750 for net dyno 18-20hp is a darn bargain for plain bolt-in performance. On the Japan import side you'd get what headers and exhuast for about that much and you'd be lucky to get 10hp on the dyno.
: Well that's about it for motor mods. I know really light weight compared to you guys. But I'm kind of a handling junkie.
: My next adventure will be to redo the suspension (at my wife protests). And after that...concentrate on raising some kids. :]
