Given that the overheat happens when at idle, and goes away when you have some speed, I bet this is a bad fan clutch. This is a viscous clutch that engages the radiator fan so it spins enough to cool the engine even when at idle; at speed, the clutch disengages. Try heating the engine up, then cutting it off, and seeing if the radiator fan freewheels, or spins with little resistance. If it does you've got a bad fan clutch ($200-$250 repair).
