People who know cars see it and say, carbon fiber; high tech; lightweight; strong; looks great! people who don't say, "plastic. I don't get it." But your point is well taken; a car nut friend saw a Ferrari F50 and told me he was stunned at how low grade the CF finish looks (the whole body is CF) - you just can't make it look nice like you can well-painted metal (or bare metal for that matter).

: After reading a lot of hype about how great looking the carbon fiber products are, I happened to see some examples up close. A 97 Dakar coupe at Chris BMW in ATL had CF door panel trim, and also over the glovebox.

: I've no problem with anyone wanting to use CF. But I think it looks extremely cheap, and is better suited to low price sophisticated-car-wannabes. I don't understand the fascination with it. I guess I'd better put on the old flame suit now...
