The extra quart of oil I think you are referring to is to eliminate oil starvation. Starvation when in a high lateral g condition which shoves most of the engine oil to one side of the oil pan and starves the oil pick-up.

: Hi guys, I posted earlier that my car stalled on the freeway... well its at a shop... they replaced the battery, alternator and it was working fine... but then it stalled again. They are telling me its something called a EWS that might be the culprit, they are also telling me that there computer came up with a vanos error... he said it was making a "weird noise up front"... i am wondering if this is the oil starvation thing... you know add an extra quart and its all good... but i dont know, any insight would really help. Thanks in advance
