it's a shame that i'm not computer savvy enough to know how to post pics on here, but i can email them. 1st is my cold air box. i came up with the idea before the 1st cold air box CAIS was invented or on the market. i knew the benefits of separating the air filter from the underhood engine heat. i used cardboard to make a design and a friend of mine machined it out of 1/8" aluminum. then i used foam to laminate it front and back so it is totally isolated from the engine heat.
next, i wanted to get as much air to the filter as possible. i thought about tapping into the cold air brake duct things, but knew that was designed to prevent overheating the brakes and rotors, so i opted to pull out the fog light and plan from there. at 1st, i just put a piece of material to deflect the air up to the filter, then i designed a unit to do the same and put a screen over the front so that from 15 feet or so, it would still look like the fog lamp was there.
it works quite well and helped my (AA stage 1+ at the time) m3 do a 1/4 mi in 12.013 seconds on yokohama sports, street tires.

soon to be stage 2+++ ( a smidgen under full stage 3) ps. the forged pistons came in, for the inquiring minds.
