I had an old HKS foam intake from my old supra, went and bought a DAC intake for 92 Honda Prelude for $65. I attached HKS to the intake pipe for the DAC and attached the DAC pipe to the air meter with a $2 pipe joint connector from Home Depot. Also made a heat shield like the JC with some plastic and silicone. Looks very good and works excellent. I also tried using the K&N cone filter that came with the DAC intake. It doesn't work as good as the HKS. You can feel a BIG difference (butt dyno)just by switching to the hks. A friend has the JC intake (no software) and with my butt dyno, I think my intake is just as good. we raced several times from about 40mph to 100mph, we were dead even, neither one could pull away.
Next plan is to duct some cold air from the front grill to the filter (don't want to replace fog light). Total price for entire setup:
new HKS filter = $60
DAC intake = $65
pipe connector = $2
plastic for heat shield = old plastic chairs, hack saw, and sander
silicone =$3
Grand TOTAL = $130
hmm....pretty cheap huh...hehehe...
going to order shark injector soon..=)
