: I was looking at making my 98 M3 5spd coupe into a OBD I. I know the legalities, lets just say that it is for off road purposes. What are the pieces that I would need to get? Are there draw backs like service lights on constantly? etc.

The problems that you may run into are few but are a pain in the ass. The first is that you may always have your ABS light on, this is cuased by a fault showing up in the ZKE or ZKW ths computers check control system in the car, changing the Wireharness does not change the little box that runs checks. The other thing is that you give up your traction control but you can get a new one from Switch Liogic. You will also have to change your throttle body the plugs around it your intake manifold and the boots that all this stuff connects to. That is about all I can think of now, I am hung over badly I know there are a few other things but can not think of them now. Good Luck..
