Saw a nice blue S4 on 280 SB yesterday, and bit when he blew by me on the way to the Sand Hill onramp. He led, then punched along the merge strip once he was clear for a launch, I followed suit. On our way to $1.00 the two cars made a damn fine sound together as we rowed the gears. I figure we must have been shifting at the same exact times- our rpm's were practically in tune with each other.I'm curious to know what the gearing is on an S4 - wondered if shift points are typically the same under hard acceleration, and if so, what that'd tell an M3 driver about the other car/driver combo. Would it be possible to listen to the M3's and S4's exhaust notes together and by comparing the two notes, tell if an S4 was shifting early, causing a lag in acceleration on his part? Just a thought. . .
Oh, yeah, he pulled away in traffic.
