: Is there a simple way to understand if they did it before I bought the car?

Your certified pre-owned car purchase should have included a checklist of items reviewed for the certification.

On the CPO check sheet:

Section A, item 1 states: "All vehicle maintenance is current as per vehicle maintenance history and service indicator LEDs?" (yes or no).

Section D, item d asks whether the brake fluid has been changed. (this is a normal LII item)

Section D, item f asks whether the coolant has been changed. (this is a normal LII item)

Obviously, this doesn't specifically say whether I or II has been reached, but some of the items covered are in the LII anyway.

At 29K miles, your car is probably approaching its level II inspection. Check the service lights... if 4 or 5 green lights are on, it probably has had the Level II recently. Also check your service book, as AZDavid recommended.

You can also ask the service writer to give you a copy of all recorded service visits. Each visit will have a code, which the writer can interpret for you.
