I understand the M3's driveshaft is pretty lightweight already, not to say that a lighter one won't help reduce the rotational weight and be an advantage.
I expect $1,200 to $1,500 is about right for the carbon fiber driveshaft, maybe even more.
I would check with someone like Korman Autowerks in Greensboro, NC or some other BMW high performance speed shop. They deal exclusively with BMWs and build BMW race cars from the ground up. Check with them to see what they think about the carbon fiber's longevity, endurance and whether it will really help all that much and is worth it. Someone like them may even have a driveshaft laying around that you could "lease" for a while to have ACPT duplicate it in carbon fiber.
: I talked with ACPT (Link below) and they stated no problem making a carbon fiber drive shaft for a M3, they only require a stock one to copy. They quoted a price between 1,000 and 1,500. They have experience making CF driveshafts for all types of high performance cars.
: Anyone know where I can get a used Drive shaft:)?
: They may perhaps give a group purchase discount as well. Haven't inquired further.
