: : When shifting to 4th I always push right and down hitting the hump for 5th.
: : If I am even slightly unsure of what I am shifting to.....I stop and try again. Shifting should be deliberate and controlled.
: : Since I learned how to drive a stick on an M3......this has worked well so far.
: : If you were going in a straight line....the only person you can blame is yourself.
: : : Last Thursday I was trying to pass a car and I went down to third gear all the way to about 97 mph and when I shifted into fourth I accidentally hit second gear! At first I reved the engine and everything seemed fine but after a while the check engine light appeared. The engine is shaking at idle so I am preety sure that I bent the valves. I simply cannot believe that this happened to me and frankly I don't know what to think. I do have a M3 3.2 engine sitting in my garage waiting for the transplant but this happened to me in just six months of owning this e36. How long before I damage the other engine? The chances of this happening again are not slim and I like to push real hard my cars (always have, always will). Sorry guys just venting out my feelings.
