went to the beach this weekend with some friends. I was in my m3 a friend was in his integra type r and my other friend was on his yamaha r6. we did not really race until we hit this one patch of road that was super flat and super straight. It had two lanes and I was in the lead doing a measly 75mph. I downshifted to 3rd, reved a little and waited for my friends to get ready. Then i hit it hard. I think i surprised my friends a little as i got a good little head start from them and took a 2 car lead from both of them. by the time i hit 100 i was in fourth and the r6 caught up with me. side by side he was inching from my rear bumper to my nose. when he finally was nose to nose with me we where doing around 120. the odd thing was that from 120 to about 140 (where the speed limiter hit) he did not walk on me and maybe got on wheel on me. but afterward he started to pull away farther and farther. the itr was way the in the back, and i did not really see him until i slowed down.
afterward i talked to the guy on the bike. he told me that he only downshifted to 5th and was a little slow reacting to me, which made sense since i got the early jump. i know that when you go 100+ mph the limiting factor stops being the weight/hp ration but it's the wind resistance/hp ratio that matters. i guess that's why when we were side by side, it took him longuer to pass me then when he was catching up to me. it was fun, he said he went all the way to 158mph and that was the fastest he had been on that bike :).
i just got my motorcycle permit, maybe it's time to really learn how to go fast :).
