I have the autostart in my 95 M3. I installed it myself- I used to be a Pro Car audio and Electronics for 7 years. It is a liability issue and you won't find a shop to do it for you (You may ask an installer to do it on the side for you on his day off though). Back when I did the install, you do need to purchase a separate ring from your steering column and use a valet key taped or zip tied into the ring, so the computer thinks a key is acutally in the ignition. BUT- in this situation, you must turn the autostart off before you put in your key. Reason for this is because the computer in the car cannot have two keys working together. it will in time drop the code from you valet key and then that key is worthless. Once you get in the car, step on the brake- the carstarter will shut down then put your key in and start it up again. I went through 2 valet keys already and I don't want to pay $100 a key again. Never leave the car in gear otherwise say bye-bye to your front end or your car. I let a friend drive one day and he left it in gear. I started the car and it jumped forward almost driving off a legde into a tree. The tree stopped it- Had to replace front lip. LIABILITY!!!!!!!
