2. I agree with your positive attitude. Cops have a tough job as it is, and in general, I think they would appreciate a passive citizen. A couple years back, I ran a residential neighborhood stop sign, just as I saw the local cop car parked cati-corner... he'd been watching for stop runners.
I knew I was had, so I pulled over just as he began to pull around the corner to stop me. He walked up and said "Hello sir, how are you doing?". I already had my license and reg out. I replied "I'm running stop signs!", to which he replied "Yes, sir."
He gave me a warning, which I left tucked in a visible spot on the console for a couple of years... there was a lot of life in that little pink slip.
