: : did one speaker quit or all, receiver still working? factory or aftermarket speakers, do they have a fuse, check for power or loose wires, check chassis ground,
: : just a few thoughts.

check wires from receiver if you can, or try; on my '94 325is there are three hot wires coming off + battery terminal running forward, BIG fat one goes to alt. and vehicle power, smaller one that runs in with BIG one goes to fuse box and ecu, other smaller one comes out under that one I believe goes to stereo, these wires are just loose ends put in a hole with screws holding, can easily work loose.
I know because the wire going to my fuse box came loose in Jan. and took me three and a half weeks, with 1-1/2 too cold to do anything, to figure out, I went to Radio Shack and got some gold wire end and crimped on end of wire, then screwed down tight, no probs since.
stereo fuse?

just few more thoughts
