: Earlier today I was leaving Washington, D.C. via Wisconsin Ave. and got pulled over. My speed never went over 40mph(in a 25), but by the time the cop pulled me over, he said I had accumulated 8 points and 550 dollars worth of fines. I think he was trying to scare me by saying that, which he didn't, but I did however tell him I was sorry, had a bad day, etc etc. When he finally came back from his new, unmarked, red taurus with limo tint, he said that I am going to receive a warning for the speeding, and a 50 dollar fine for "passing through a yellow light". The funny thing was is that I thought he was some nut trying to follow an m3, and timed the yellow light so that he was stuck on the red light. Two morals of my story is that the street is not a place to speed, even if you think you are ok, and apologize repeatedly. I didn't admit to speeding or failing to use my turn signal or whatever else he said I was going to be charged with, but I did apologize at the same time. I don't even think I received any points because I was not asked to sign anything on the ticket, he just gave it to me and said slow down. Even if there is a 1 or 2 point penalty, it's a hell of a lot better than 8 points and a suspended license. That's my $0.02 and then some.
