I not clear on what you mean by "hard to shift smooth with ac on"

My understanding is that the compressor clutch is disengaged at WOT. However, if you're shifting at less than WOT, then you might experience the temporary drag of the AC clutch kicking in, if it happens during the shift, or shortely after you've engaged the transmission clutch.

Plus, you're running in hot weather, the known enemy of high performance. This may exacerbate the feeling, too.
