Now you are really comparing apples to oranges!

The Euro M3 have a COMPLETELY different motor that alone makes much more power than the US version. 321 to 240. Different head, cams, valves, intake (throttle bodies)

I am talking US version only.

Look at your euro box vs. the stock one...what are the differences??? Not much...they are both very restrictive.

A person (don't know the name) on the UUC Digest dyno'd a 95 M3 with a JC chip and stock air box

He got 213 @ the rear wheels.

Then he dyno the car with the TMS Euro kit...euro airbox, JC chip and adapters.

He got 215 @ the rear wheels. The euro airbox is totally restricting the larger hfm. You put a CAI infront of the larger HFM and it really rocks!

He did not dyno it with a CAI...he would have gotten much more.

Bottom line, the euro box with the EURO motor does make power...mostly because of the motor...the US motor thrives with a CAI...not the euro box.

Email Jim Conforti ([email protected]) and ask him his thoughts on this...he has dyno'd both and he'll be the first to tell you the euro box is NO better than the stock US version

I have attached a dyno sheet for you to look at..
ECIS CAI added to a stock 95 me offline if you have any other concerns.

: How can you say that the Euro airbox is very restrictive? The Euro M3's are putting out 321hp breathing through the same airbox. 268hp is pretty far from that.

: I currently have a Euro HFM and airbox on my M3. I've considered changing to a CAI, but I have never seen any dyno charts directly comparing the a Euro airbox to a CAI. Comparing a US HFM and airbox to a Euro HFM and CAI is definately not the same test.

: What gives? Does any one have the numbers?

: : Ken,

: : The problem with the kit you guys have is the euro air box. It does not flow any better than the stock air box...complete waste!

: : Adding a CAI will make a HUGE improvement to your car. The hfm and chip work well in letting in more air and calibrating it with the correct fuel and air mixtures, but a shielded intake really enhances it. On the dyno you can expect...

: : AA has seen about 24hp at the rear wheels
: : ECIS has seen 21-23hp at the rear wheels
: : Jim C has seen 24-28hp at the rear wheels

: : Go with one of these kits, you will be amazed...

: : : Mike, I too have an Euro Airbox with snorkel and
: : : have thought about switching over to CAI. Do you
: : : know how much more HP it would give us? I was
: : : talking to the guys at TC Kline and they said it
: : : might add 2-3 hp, but weren't sure.

: : : Ken

: : :
: : : : please email if you've got one you'd like to sell.
: : : : thx
