That said, I doubt BMW had drag strips in mind for M3. Road race tracks demand everything from the car, including HP, and I tell ya, the Civic Type R, with minor mods, is a screamer (especially for it's class/price)..For drag racing, ANY car can run down the quartermile, as they so evidently test them this way...but not all the cars will make it around the harsh environments and demands of a road racing track. And both the M3 and Type R shine in that light of performance.. CYA>PM3

: I don't mean that as an insult to drag strips but I believe PM3 was referring to road race-type tracks and not 0-60 or 1/4 miles

: : low 15 from what i've seen, I'm not saying it's not a nice car. I used to have a crx, a lot of my friends race civics and integras. What I'm saying is that the M3 was built for performance where the integra's and civis are designed more for economy. They can be easily modified with the thousands of aftermarket parts out there to run with beamers, out of the box they're not exactly ready for the track. A lot of the design decisions from my understanding were made for economy, comfort of ride, noise, etc...

: : : : One thing I have noticed about the M3 as opposed to the integra and other honda's is that the many parts dont' necessarily need to be changed to get gains. For example the stock exhaust is very good and doesn't need to be changed. I think that probably same goes for headers.

: : : : : Well, thats what I heard too... but how come they are the dominant HP gains on other imports? For instance... adding a header to my prev. car which was and Integra gave it the most noticeable hp gain. And the headers were before teh cats as well. SO, who knows? If they werent soo expensive, I would give it a try.

: : : : : : : Does anyone have this on their car???

: : : : : : Last I heard, they don't do anything for the car if you leave the cats on. So, they appear to be for racing only.
