the BMW service indicator light are more complicated than just mileage. Basically, they count mileage, but count mileage driven with a cool engine double, and mileage at high rpm is also doubled. When the fixed interval for service is reached the inspection lights come on. With normal use, inspection 2 becomes due at between 35-38k miles. The old woman is right. Read the pamphlet on the light system available at your dealer so you'll understand better.

: Please advise. I have a 97 M3. The car is at 32K miles.
: I went to the dealer in Austin (near 360&183)
: and the old lady there told me that I should wait
: for the inspection light to come on, else I pay
: for the cost of inspectionII. She also said
: on some cars that light comes very late.
: What kind of BS is this? They should service
: my car based on mileage, right?
