: There are a few issues with EARLY model 95's, very few with later builds ie. waterpump, but the OBDII M3's have just as many issues so I really don't know what he's talking about as far as reliability, that's just horsesh*t :) Further more if you want to do mods at all, get a 95 M3. I've talked to several ///M techs at they've told me the following, and I've found the following doing my own research. The 95 M3's came with larger manifolds, wilder cams, stiffer suspension in comparison to the 96+ cars and did 0-60 in 5.4 and pulled .94 on the skidpad which are the best numbers I've seen for a stock M3. There are mods that are still only available for 95 M3's ie the euro hfm system. FYI Lately they have found the OBDII engines are adapting to mods at AA, did you notice they quit selling the software upgrade for OBDII? Coincidence? And try adding some headers to an OBDII engine without getting a check engine light. There is so much more info in the archives on this subject to do some searches.
: BTW I think the Lux edition M3 has the best interior :) YMMV 13.5's in a modded 95 M3.

: : Some people say the 95 because it is OBD1 which is easier and cheaper to modify. Others want a more reliable model year and don't mind OBDII or are not going to modify. Being the first production year, the 95 had some kinks to work out, like a plastic impeller in the water pump that goes bad. Also the 95 is the only year where Luxo was a package. This gave the car wood trim and cushier seats plus other junk that got retired or became standard.

: : I think those are the main difrences in years but I'm sure there are others on this board who no more and can clear some stuff up.
