He's talking about Yokohama AVS Sports; you're talking about Yokohama AVS Intermediates.

: I have a '98 M3 which had the Michelins which I ran for 17,000 miles and about a year and a half on the track (about 20 track days). In my opinion, these are simply THE BEST street tires for the E36 M3 -- no exceptions. Excellent in the rain and quite good on the track, both in terms of wear and grip (nice stick, releases progessively with plenty of audible warning at the limit -- exactly what you need in an M3 when you overcook a corner). I had to beg, borrow and steal to get a new set after I ran through the originals, and now I won't run them on the track or at auto-x (I use stickies). I also have an '88 M3 "track dog" which originally had the Yoko Intermediates. Those tires cannot compete with the Michelins. OK for the street, lousy in the rain, and CRAP ON THE TRACK -- poor wear and poor grip. ONLY the Yoko A032R is better than the Michelins on the track (better in the rain, too, but not as long wearing on the street), and for the money, you can get a better track tire (like the Toyo Proxes RA-1) with decent streetability. Of course, your best bet is 2 sets of wheels/tires -- one for the street, one for track. JUST MY $.02, but based on personal experience and hard-earned $$$$$.
