First I must say street racing is dangerous, childish and very idiotic.. but I do it from time to time anyway :) After all I didn't buy an M3 becuase it was the plushiest ride on the road. Having said that.. I raced a new Mustang GT 4.6L with steeda stickers today. I found him tailing me at about 75 mph when I decided to see if he wanted to play. I had the windows down and the sunroof back and a friend chilling with me. I start to gas it in 4th and notice he's still with me.. right with me so I know he wants to play. I get over and let him pull up next to me and next thing I know he's gassing it and waving me on. I floor it in 4th and notice I'm not gaining and he's not leaving me, I look down and I'm in the 4k rpm or so range and I'm not pulling away like I should be or would be in 3rd, I think for a QUICK minute that maybe I should gear down into 3rd, but no.. I'm still right with him so let's see what's up. One second later I'm coming up on a car in the middle lane.. mustang to my left so I bolt over into the 3rd lane on the far right, still flooring 4th, I pull around the slower car and back to the center lane and all I could hear is Chris saying "you got him,.you got him,. good job" atleast that is what it sounded like. Anyway I look back and I had left him behind, after he was waving me if saying,.. "come on,.. let's see what you got" What I "GOT" was about an 8 car length lead or more on him by 138 mph or so. I slowed down and let him catch up, he got next to me and I threw it into 3rd and nailed it this time, and again continued to pull away. It seemed anytime I geared into 3rd I would leave him easily. I was very surprised. I had beaten him into submission was the feeling I was getting after 4 or 5 blasts. Maybe I perceived it a bit differently than my co pilot, I need to ask hehe. I was just recently told they do about 120 mph in 4th gear and about 140 mph in OD and that it takes so long to get to 140 that it's not worth it. Is this right? If that is the case, it explains alot, as I just CRUSHED him at 120+ hehe.
