Today, I pulled apart my intake to put on an ECIS heat shield. While putting it all together, I noticed there was some pretty huge screens on either side of the HFM. Any car I've had before, I've usually pulled the screens out, but the screens are industrial strength looking on this car. Any opinions on pulling them out? I know they straighten air, but, whatever. I have a K&N which does the straightening now. Just the monster look to them prevented me from pulling them. BTW, if I ever hear anyone say the quality of that ECIS shield is top notch, I won't hesitate to smack them. It's nothing more then a piece of sheet metal with a carpet on the outside. It didn't line up for jack shit, either. After some custom bending, I finally got it to work. Once it's in, it looked halfway decent. After taking the car for a spin, you can definitly see it's worth the effort, though. It has to be about 90 degrees out here in Jersey today. I could tell a huge difference just normal cruising. I even popped the hood to stick my hand underneath the filter. Huge difference in air temperature. You can really appreciate it on a day like today. Only downside was that it muffles the intake noise. It was much throatier before with the cone exposed, but some might not like that. Worth the 70 bucks. Time to hit the track, again!!!
