Wow! Let me say that I am thoroughly impressed with the level of maturity of everyones replies! I purposely trolled for a flame, and was met with honest replies!

Let me explain. I have been attending autocross events over the past year. Almost a dozen events under my belt, and I was going to do ButtonWillow Big Track about 2 weeks ago in my Subaru 2.5RS. I blew the tranny out. This is the 2nd transmission problem I have had, and with my warranty about to expire, I am a bit worried.

Lately, there has been a lot of flaming and whatnot on the Subaru lists. I get tired of it, and when I look for a car, I have decided that the *type* of common owner would be important for me. Hence my indication my parent's would pay for a car.

But my parent's could never afford another vehicle, this purchase is all me.

Which brings me full circle to the M3. A lot of people seem to feel that this is the definative sports cars, especially when you consider the price/performance ratio of late model 300zx and Mazda RX-7. Both cars cheaper, and more power.

So what does an M3 hold over other cars? Why is it better? I have a few months to decide while I part out my Subaru Race Car.

And don't get me wrong. I love my Subaru. In autocross events, I was within 3.0 seconds (49 vs. 46) of the top time for day of a door-slammer. I lost to a Gran Sport Corvette with 400hp. The Subaru, with its palty 185hp and awd really makes everyone a no-brainer driver. :-)

Anyways, like I said, looking for a new toy, and would like to know your opinions on what makes the M3 your favorite.

Thanks!!!
