I also had a similar experience. I have a 97M3 coupe and raced a 2000S4. He took me off the line to about 10mph and then I passed him slowly, by 80mph I was about 1/2 car length ahead. Then we ran through some curves and he dropped to about a full car length behind. After that he gave me a thumbs up and we split directions. I definitely agree that it would take me in the wet though.

: i have 99m3, friend 2000 s4, raced from stoplight, had him by 1/2 car length all the way till 70mph...similar performance numbers that it gets to who can shift better and keep the revs going (and who doesn't have ac on). Don't doubt he can take me in a wet corner though, considering i lost my tail once that way......
