I bought the car used with an unknown aftermarket short shifter that is notchier than my grandma's knees... I took off the cheesy shifter knob that he had on it which was screwed in and replaced it with a factory illuminated one. Heres the problem, the knob doesnt fit perfectly on the shifter... it doesnt click into place and pops off very very easily while shifting. I tried dabbing RTV around the perimeter and that didnt work either. SO I basically used the RTV as an adhesive type glue and smoothered globs of it on the inside to adhere it to the shifter. Its been a 4-5 months now and seems like it is getting loose again. (especially during hard shifting)

What alternative adhesive should I try next? I am considering changing the whole SS setup, but that would be down the infamous road everyone talks about. So I would need to be able to pull and yank the BMW know off eventually so I dont think cement would work.
Thanx~ ;-)
