I'm sure there is a much easier way to install the e-brake handle and save it for future use, but this is what I came up with. Basically just take a small, sharp knife and peel away the leather cover from the plastic section attached to the ebrake. Once that is removed, carefully whittle away the plastic until it is completely removed. Even though my car is a '99 and I put the handle on a little over a year after I bought my car, this is the only way I found possible to remove it after numerous other attempts. Good luck.
