the 92 to 99 E36 is VERY reliable, I was scared shitless about spending as much as I did on a four year old car with 50K on it, but a year and a half later, I've done mods, have 76K on Gretchen, run her like she's supposed to be driven and she's had no problems....

95's are getting old now, so if you want a daily driver, think hard and look closely at the maintenance record, 96 to 99 is a little more refined, but not so easy to mod and more expensive.....

All in all, the E36 is one of the most reliable BMW's ever built, and that data includes the fact that it was the most built BMW (more E36's on the road than any other BMW)!
