It's really hard to say. It could be any number of things or a combination of better traffic flow, lighter on the gas, using a higher gear, less stop and goes, fewer cold starts, the engine oil, etc., etc.

Enjoy it however, the savings will pay for an extra beer every once in a while!

with me switching to Mobil1 0W30 from BMW 5W40.
Coincidentally, I also swapped my intake with ECIS at the same time. Don't know which one is responsible for it though. It's a quite significant increase, my avg. mpg went from 21-22.7-ish. Any thoughts?

How much longer will synthetic oil last than regular 20w50? Also, somebody here recommended that I use 0w30 synthetic.. is this a good choice? I drive my car somewhat hard, but i want some oil that will last at least 4k miles, if possible. thanks!
