Serious Clutch Slippage (archive)

Has anyone else experienced severe clutch slippage with their M3?
I have been to the dealer and they assure me that this is normal behavior, but many times if I take the engine up to 4-5000rpm and engage the clutch it doesn't fully engage on the engine side - I could be red-lining and going 15mph to begin with until the clutch slowly kicks in and finally matches the speed with the RPM's.
This just feels completely wrong to me - I should be able to spin the tires at will, should I not?
By the way, this is with ASC turned OFF.
