I have read most of the archive in this forum regarding replacing the stock speakers and adding a sub. I have a 95 M3 cosmos/black that I bought used. I want to change the front speakers and add a sub. Here are my questions:

1. Do I need to retain the 3-way component setup or can I go with a 2-way setup? Will I still get good sound with the 2-way setup, or I am going to missing some sound?

2. I recently found out that the previous owner had already cut out the rear deck to put in a pair of subs, using the trunk as the enclosure. I have been told by 2 installers that this is the way to go. Is there enough of a seal to have an open-air sub, or should I have an enclosed box?

Any info, opinions, and pics would be helpful.

Paul
