I think the stealthboxes for the E36 are some of the most misunderstood items out there. The "box" in the name is misleading. For the E36, they really aren't boxes. That part you see on their website is just a stupid cover. Basically, if you're good as some woodwork, you can rig yourself up a bracket to mount just about any reasonably size subs onto the deck. The only caveat is that they would have to be infinite baffle (i.e. free air) subs. For better pics, mosey over to

I bought them and was a little disappointed with the build quality. Afterall, these are supposed to be mass produced (used very loosely) items. For the money (I organized a group purchase a while ago and discovered that the pair cost the dealer $250 and got the group purchase people a sweet deal of $280/pair), I'm happy with them and the fact that I have trunk space.

to ask: are the Stealths considered Free Air, or , does the enclosures around them take them out of that realm, or, are they to be considered a kind of hybrid system?

That's great Chester....I guess, then, that the $325 I've been quoted from Sound Concept in Mt Kisco isnt a bad price! Since I keep so much car care stuff in the trunk as it is, I cant sacrifice any more trunk room...Therefore I guess the Stealths are my best choice....Of course if they didnt sound good, it wouldnt matter, but everyone seems to feel that, while they dont produce the very best sub sound possible, there quite good for 8" subs which fit stock mounts...right? thanks for the info.
