Knowing how much the dealer pays for these cars wont help you. they're still going to make money off of you. Thats what they're there for.
I work for a dealership, and although Im not too excited to see people posting the auction reports online, it doesnt bother me because we show the people how much we pay for the cars anyhow. Not only that, but we also give them better deals than they'll find anywhere else.
But i guess it would help in negotiation. Im telling you, there's nothing more annoying than having people offer 4k dollars less than what you paid for the car. You feel like running them off the lot and telling them to never come back... if they're looking for a "cheap" car, go get a honda... I guess some people dont understand this concept... dealerships are there to make money. Albeit, not all of them are honest, and some of them are a big ass rip off, but its still very unappropriate to post the prices that dealerships pay for the cars, in fact, this is against auction policy... Retail consumers are not allowed in the gates, they're not allowed to bid on the cars, nor are they allowed to be disclosed the prices of the cars they sell there...
When buying a car, i dont think that what the dealership paid is very important... Whats important is weather you like the car or not, and weather you're getting a good deal on it or not.
besides, its highly unlikely that you will ever see any of the bmw's that were sold at this auction because dealers from all over the east coast buy cars from there and then ship them back to their home town...
