I read somewhere on the net and I forgot the URL but here what I did on my 325.
side marker has 2 wire. 1 goes the parking light and the other goes to the blinker. Forget about the corner ground wire.
This way your marker will:
1- stay on when parking light is on and blink is not.
2- and marker will blink when blinker is blinking.
PS: you can switch the 2 wires around to make the marker and the blinker blink
a- alternately
b- or simultaneously

You are right about just wiring the Side Markers to the parking lights. Even though the parking lights are dual filament, you can still do it. If take out the parking light bulb, you will notice that there are 3 wires going into that wiring harness. 1 is ground, 1 is the "on" wire for the dual filament and the other wire is the same color as the wire that is connected to the side markers.

All you have to do is tap into the "on" wire of the parking lights and connect it to the side marker. Your only concern is getting that tapped wire over to the side marker. You might have to take off your rims and open up the fender. Good luck.
