You can use the battery post under the hood but it's actually easier to just hook right at the battery.

Any 10 ampere "manual" battery charger will work. It's preferred not to use an automatic type charger since the charger could automatically cut back the charging rate and might vary the output voltage. The purpose of using the charger is twofold; maintain a high enough voltage and keep the voltage as constant as possible throughout the download.

These chargers can be bought for as little as $30.00. The move features such as trickle charge, engine cranking ability, automatic mode or higher amperage will undoubtably increase the price.

Some people have chanced not even using a battery charger! If you do want to chance not using one during the download, I would recommend you go for a twenty minute or so ride to make sure the battery is fullt charged as the download really tests the battery's capacity. "If" the battery alone (no battery charger) fails to complete the download, your DME will have to be sent off to be repaired/replaced! It's not something your local BMW dealer can do...therefore I would not suggest trying "injecting" without the use of a battery charger to supplement the car's battery capacity.

The whole process takes only about ten minutes.
Enjoy the added performance!

1. Can you use the engine bay positive battery post to connect the battery charger?

2. Any recommendations for a battery charger? Other than the ones listed in the Injector Manual?

Thanks.
