This may not have anything to do with best or your particular area. I use Union 76. I used to use Chevron. The reason why I use Union 76 is that it contains no MTBE. This crap that the gas companies started putting into the gas, by way of bad science and for really ugly political reasons, is poisoning ground water supplies (all for a miniscule smog reduction benefit - Thank you Carol Browner and Al Gore). MTBE is a known carcinogen. The problem has been particularly prevalent here in California. This nasty additive increased the price per gallon of gasoline by approximately $0.40. There have been many complaints about poor start and run performance as well as reduced fuel economy. Once again, California leads the nation.

Moral: Use a non-MTBE (ethanol-based) gas. And use Redline SI-1 or Amsoil PI as a regular additive.
